Slow Dancing with Rioja

For centuries wine buyers from around the world have been seeking out and enjoying the wines of Rioja. For many collectors, after Bordeaux, Rioja was the wine to seek. Like Bordeaux fine Rioja has a bewitching quality. If you sit back and close your eyes the aromas, flavours, texture and finish will remind you of a graceful slow dance of Fred and Ginger style.

Now I don't normally do this but I'm going to quote what Neal Martin of the Wine Advocate said about this wine as it tells you about the technical aspects and flavours very well (although he missed the best part- the slow dance). Also because it is extremely rare that the Wine Advocate gives 91/100 points to a wine under $20

"The 2008 Hacienda Lopez de Haro Crianza is a blend of 93% Tempranillo and 7% Garnacha aged for 18 months in French and American oak. It has a mellow bouquet of dried herbs, terracotta tiles and dusky black fruit that is very well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin: tart red berried fruit, laced with tobacco and dried herbs on the dry, crisp finish. This is a superb classical Rioja Crianza." 91 Points Neal Martin, Wine Advocate #202 August 2012.
