Sicily is the hottest wine growing region in Europe. My belief is that if there is a region in Europe that has the potential to be the next hot region like Argentine Malbec or Australian Shiraz, it is Sicily or Puglia in the south of Italy. The only thing holding it back is how understandable the names of the wines/grapes are.

This wine is a blend of Frappato (50%) and Nerello Mascalese (50%); I know, household names hey?

Frappato is a lighter bodied grape most similar to Pinot of Gamay Noir. It produces wine of elegance and bright fruit flavours.

Nerello Mascalese is a relatively rare grape that offers really lush approachable wines that feature ripe berry flavours, gentle spices, sweet tannins and an underlying mineral earthiness.

Put both of the grapes together and you get a wine of exceptional character and finese that you are not going to find everyday.

PAIR WITH cured meats, lasagne, mousaka, rich cheeses.

DRINK DIFFERENTLY If you like Barolo or Nebbiolo based wines, Barbera or Cru Beaujolais, Argentine Cabernet Sauvignon or Bonarda, you will love this wine.
