If you love the wines that we make here in BC you are likely familiar, or at least tasted the passion and energy of Harry McWatters.
Harry is a founding member of the Vintner's Quality Alliance (VQA), was the founder and owner of Sumac Ridge, See Ya Later Ranch (Hawthorne Mountain) wineries until they were sold to Vincor, and is the reason they make wine on Black Sage Road in the South Okanagan.
Oh yeah and Harry is the one that coined the term 'Meritage' to describe New World Bordeaux Blends. A term that is now used throughout California, Washington State and here in BC.
Needless to say Harry knows a thing or two about crafting awesome wines that express their trademark terroir.
This is the second vintage of the McWatters Collection (first one sold out in about 6 days) which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc all grown on Black Sage Road.
The wine is dense but with a whimsical elegance. Aromas and palate of black currant, ripe plums, cherries and dark cocoa. This finish is a long seductive embrace of ripe dark cherries and mocha flavours.
You will have to act fast on this wine as there is a very very limited supply of wine made and it is usually only available in premium restaurants.
PAIR WITH: grilled meats and rich meaty, tomato sauce based pastas.
